This year, the community of Kangiqsuallujjuaq will intensify its action to create community-led clean energy projects especially with the vivid interest in solar energy. In the Fall of 2023, Tarquti will proceed with the installation of a wind measurement tower, a temporary 60-meter-high structure held in place by steel cables anchored to the ground. This instrument will help the community to collect data for wind speed and direction as well as sun radiation, temperature and other weather information. Tarquti is also hoping to accompany the Kangiqsualujjuaq’s local entities to create a Community Energy Plan and build an Energy Team composed of a Community Energy Champion.
