Wind Energy Project Manager

Under the supervision of the Project Development Director, the Wind Energy Project Manager will be responsible for developing wind energy projects in Nunavik. Working closely with engineering firms and other experts, your tasks will consist of initiating, planning, and coordinating the development of projects including design, construction, commissioning and operation.

The candidate will be responsible for confirming that each project phase is completed on time and within budget. Consideration of factors that influence and promote social acceptability will be a priority. In collaboration with Tarquti’s team, the project development responsibilities will include, community engagement, engineering and planning, permitting, financing and contracting.  The candidate will also be asked to oversee procurement, logistics, schedule follow-up, project meetings, project committees with Hydro-Quebec, communication with stakeholders, contractors’ management, and technical support for construction and maintenance. The candidate should expect short trips to Nunavik communities from time to time.

  • Coordinate project development activities regarding wind energy projects in Nunavik.
  • Collaborate with the Project Development Director to support the development strategy.
  • Coordinate field and feasibility studies in various Nunavik communities.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets.
  • Develop and manage the scope and schedules of various projects.
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for each project component.
  • Request and select contractors’ proposals, including scoping and contract negotiations.
  • Identify project risks and define mitigation measures.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and all suppliers.
  • Develop, create, and implement policies, procedures, criteria, controls, performance indicators, management dashboards, and metrics necessary to advance the various projects.
  • Degree in engineering, project management or business administration.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable energy projects.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in implementation of renewable energy projects, including production, storage and distribution of wind energy and/or microgrids
  • Experience in team management (PMP certificate is an asset)
  • Experience with small, large and complex projects.
  • Knowledge of the Quebec energy regulatory framework and the energy market.
  • Leadership and ability to motivate teams, suppliers, and partners.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of indigenous communities and clean energy transition.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and deployment skills.
  • Self-starter and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to influence and persuade.
  • Ability to participate in integration strategies on microgrids.
  • Strong ability to maintain positive and effective interpersonal and working relationships.
  • Active listening skills.
  • Proficiency in Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Google Earth, and any other software relevant to the position.
  • Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.
